Genre: Best Party Games Gameplay Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZr3oM8I5s0 NB: Fakes for this game come in boxes with Chinese words and instructions and misprinted thin cards. Cockroach Poker is a 15 minute party game for 3-6 players where players are holding up to 8 cards comprising of 8 different vermin. Players then pass cards to one another with the intention of making one person lose the game by collecting 4 vermin of the same type or losing all cards in his or her hand. At the start of the game, a random player passes a card face down and states what vermin is depicted on the card. The receiving player has two options: 1) to take a look at the card and pass it onto a further player of his or her choice, or 2) state whether the giving player is telling the truth or not and flip over the card. If the receiving player is correct, the giving player adds the card to his or her collection and starts a new round. If not, the receiving player collects the card likewise. If the receiving player is the last player on the table who has not seen the originating card, option 1 is unavailable. Cockroach Poker plays like people playing poker, except with vermin. But the players are actually insectophobes/musophobes/arachnophobes trying to conquer their fears through desensitisation therapy. Still, when the body count of any particular vermin in front of that player gets too high, that player runs from the table screaming. The chief excitement in Cockroach Poker is not simply your ability to render your closest friends and family confused as to when you are lying or truthful. More fun is watching the evil that seeps into all players’ minds when they see that one particular player has inadvertently collected 3 vermin and is on the threshold of losing the game. Then, all players start to pass vermin of that type to the poor victim, who more often than not is crushed under waves of lies. Naturally, players who are unable to lie or collude will find it hard to take to Cockroach Poker. Crossing and Skull are the only games where spinning lies every minute is crucial to survival. The social deduction staples of One Night Ultimate Werewolf, Avalon, Secret Hitler, and Dark Moon are also popular choices. Among other entry level party games, Junk Art, Telestrations, and Dixit are excellent alternatives. Cards required 64 Standard European card sleeves (59 x 92mm) #partygames
