Fertiliser Baskets We also sell fertiliser baskets for your use: Just put the fertiliser in the basket and stick it into the soil. Help to control the amount of fertiliser to add to the plants. Prevent fertiliser from being lost due to strong winds. Each basket: 2.2cm x 4.8cm Osmocote is a slow release fertiliser that promotes overall plant health and growth. It can last up to 3 months after application. Directions of Use for Fertiliser: Use the following amount for: Small pots (< 15 cm) - 1/2 teaspoon Large pots (> 15 cm) - 1-2 teaspoons Trees - 2-4 tablespoons Apply once every 3 months or when colour is lost. Spread in a ring around stem, do not put near to stem. Water immediately after application. Do not apply multiple types of fertiliser together. Seal tight and keep in a dry, cool place. Contains: Nitrogen (N) - 15% Phosphorous (P) - 15% Potassium (K) - 15% Trace Elements to promote overall plant growth Nitrogen Promotes green leafy growth Most likely to be deficient in garden soils Inadequate nitrogen: Result in yellowing and dropping of older leaves, stunted growth Excess nitrogen: Result in plants growing too fast and may become weak and spindly. May produce more leaves and stems than flowers, fruits or edible roots Phosphorus Promotes strong root growth, flowering and fruiting Inadequate phosphorus: Result in dull green leaves with a purple tint, stunted growth and reduced yield Excess phosphorus: Unlikely to harm your plants, but is a serious pollutant of water sources Potassium Regulates the synthesis of proteins and starches that make sturdy plants Results in higher resistance to diseases, heat and cold Inadequate potassium: Result in reduced flowering and fruiting, spotted or curled older leaves and weak stems and roots Excess potassium: Result in salt burn on leaf tips, turning them brown
