Product Description

Pale lemon yellow colour. On the nose aromas of stone fruits (peach, apricot) and of white flowers. On the palate a beautiful complexity, citrus notes (lemon green), exotic fruits (pineapple, mango) with good acidity. Fine and fine woody integrated, the finish is expressive on lingering zesty and mineral notes Winery Profile: The history of the estate goes back to the 12th century; that of viticulture begins in 1560, after the Tulle de Villefranche family bought the “Grange de Beauvenir” estate. Château La Nerthe wine has been famous across Europe since the 18th century. Surrounded by large pine trees, the Château towers over 90 hectares of contiguous vineyards. Eleven different grape varieties grow on red, loamy soil with sandy components and pebbles: Grenache , Cinsault , Mourvčdre , Syrah , Muscardin, Vaccarčse, Counoise, Picpoul, Grenache Blanc , Clairette , Roussanne and Bourboulenc. The south-facing vines, adapted to the climate and soil over centuries, have roots over several meters deep. The yields of the vines, which are on average 40 years old, are very low at 25 to 30 hl./ha. All grapes are picked manually when they are optimally ripe and the grape varieties are largely vinified separately. The aging takes place depending on the tannin content and structure in new barriques, large barrels (“foudre”) or steel tanks (mainly for the white wines ). Only then does the assemblage take place, which can vary depending on the year. Here is one of the 3 largest properties of the CHÂTEAUneuf-du-Pape appellation with its 92 hectares of vines. Very old vineyard, the first archives of CHÂTEAU la Nerthe date back to the 16th century when the estate was named the Ferme du Beauvenir. His name today echoes one of the members of the family who bought it in the 16th century and who was none other than a prior living on the Nerthe Massif.
