Product Description

Tempranillo is a Spanish red grape variety that is grown on the Ernest Hill vineyard in the Hunter Valley. In Spain, it is famous for producing delicious wines from the Rioja region in the north of the country. The warm weather conditions in Hunter create a medium-bodied, fruit-driven, food-friendly wine. The Andrew Watson Tempranillo is named in honor of Ross Wilson's father-in-law, Andrew Watson Anderson Gibson, patriarch of the Gibson family. The 2018 Andrew Watson Tempranillo has delicious raspberry flavors with a hint of licorice and some toasty, vanilla flavors from 12 months in French oak barrels. The tannins are smooth creating an easy-drinking, enjoyable wine that is very versatile with different styles of food. This reserve wine represents Ernest Hill Wines' highest standards of winemaking. Cellaring: Drink now or cellar up to 6 years. Alcohol: 13.5% Halliday Wine Companion Rating: 91 pts "A well-positioned dry red for the table. Vibrant, mid weighted and versatile, by reckoning of its classical tannic composure and freshness. Not as stiff-upper-lipped as cabernet, but offering more savoury gristle and welcome restraint than shiraz. Succulent red fruits, a smattering of herb and well-nestled oak. Acidity, clearly an obsession here, a bit shrill. Good drinking for now." - Halliday Wine Companion 2022 Shipping: Within Singapore
